I have been studying poetic forms in preparation for my new choral commission (to be premiered in 2016).
I wrote a few poems in various forms.
Here is one in strong stress metre which was common in English verse before 1500.
This poem is inspired by my wonderful 7 month old daughter Farley.
Take a toy to taste, and then touch your toes,
Laugh a gurgled language, and so learn the limits and thereby life.
Heeding what’s in your heart and your head, and so hear all that life has.
Growing with the gain of the game, and gradually becoming with an infinite grace.
